What makes a good website?
A good website needs two things:
Net Krafter
Customers (traffic) can be found
Be interesting for a visitor – a real person
Let's talk about 'the real man.
Remembering the real visitor
A website that sells handmade jewelry, or some key elements need to be inviting and the customer (or the audience or the reader, if you like more).
So what makes watching a welcoming placehow?
A welcoming website communicates directly with the customer needs instead of you, the artist. Sad to say I do not care, no one on it until you tell them what for him in it. The key to selling is what the customer thinks. You are always thinking: "What's in it for me?".
Not in a bad way.
Everyone thinks so. Do not you think?
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is to talk to your customers as if they were standing in front of you. Web SitesThey are often not so, even if it is designed.
Let's look at how art, crafts and jewelry are trying to create websites. We often speak in front of the center of design and, does not it? Who are they, where they live, how they like to make you feel something, and how people say how great is that they are jewels.
But think about it. I'm interested in people, where are you? Perhaps, but if you know why I care, you will see that this is on them, not you.
Put yourself in their shoesTheir visitors. What do you do when looking to buy you. Why do you care where they come from? Maybe you want to know how far away from them because of shipping costs, because you like to shop locally, or because there is a kind of prestige or "specificity" that says to buy Paris.
Elements of a web page invite
Back to your art and crafts or handmade jewelry site. So, we want, what makes people stick to a Web site? Unlike content mean. Thinkabout themselves. You tend to sites that have a lot of stuff I have to hang out, or you want sites that are easier? There are websites that you feel overwhelmed and do you make the first button?
The biggest problem I see with most sites, there is simply too much going on. The trick is to break down without mercy.
Two of the most popular sites are Google's website and Apple's Web site. I think they are well designed – it would be better, because they take on the top of the WebThe designers of the world, is not it? What do they have in common?
Clean
Simple colors and design
A lot of white space
Targeted / Purpose Driven
1 Focal Point
Easy to understand navigation
Here's a tip for analyzing your site. Wear it and squint.
How many nodes can you expect?
And 'in your eyes will automatically go to first? Or is it to bounce all over the place?
And take a look – if your eyes go to a place, is the placedo you want?
So, consider this: is the purpose of the site by hand? How do you think your purpose is to find the customer? Or is it all about you?
How easy to get around?
Do you have a search box?
It 'obvious where you choose first?
It looks like you are driving to "sell" things, or seems to help them, what they need and want? Once again goes back to the customer.
Photography
On the Web are not just pretty picturesImportant in the face! Manufactured goods, especially jewelry, is the kind of thing you like to touch, feel, and even to try. You can not do on the computer screen, so you have to do the best thing. Describe accurately and seductive, and the middle of many great pictures. And many different views of the same song.
A couple of ideas, presentation, I want, what others see. There are some great Etsy shops with beautiful photographs. Doing some researchshould give you many ideas.
Good Copy
What is copy? The copy is only words on your website. The best copywriters in the world receive large sums of money because they get results. You know what people want.
Here are some things that people want:
Do not "sold"
Solutions to their problems
Fast, easy, convenient
For the number one priority
I often see sites that go something like: "I want to order a bracelet personalized" they say. But if youCare shopping, there is, as some would like to have something? Or do you mean, "Yes, something to sell, something that everyone would be happy to sell me something?"
Just as a shopping paradise, what do you want? They want to know why you should buy from them. Marketing is sometimes called your USP, or "Unique Selling Proposition"
As a buyer you have a couple of things that can motivate. Want something special. A sort of "wow" factor that you can tell your friends.
OftenThis is important with jewelry, they can tell a story.
For example, if the jewel in a rustic barn studio with cutting edge technology that few know how to do that would be something that would be an interesting side effect of making history.
Another great way to get into the minds of your customers is to use problem-solving strategy. Instead of "I like your design wedding jewelry," is perhaps something like "your special day is all about you, the bride. Want Appearancethe most beautiful woman in the room. Imagine walking down the aisle, flushed with excitement, your hand tailored Princess Swarovski Crystal necklace, earrings and matching bracelet are small 3-strand as bright as diamonds, and all eyes are on you. Do not you like your jewelry to shine like diamonds on your special day? "
First light
Remember, a good site other must-have? Traffic! The people you need to find. How do you get traffic?Marketing!
There are many ways for the market to drive traffic to your website. Of course, any kind of creative person hates marketing. We all want to build and people come. Well, I'm not going to fly – if you want traffic, you have to work on it. They suck.
Here are some specific ways (ie people who are really interested in your site, not only various Surfer) to bring visitors to your site:
Article Marketing: Write articles and submit themArticle directories, magazines and other sites
Search Engine Marketing: Pay attention to search engine friendly
Pay-Per-Click Marketing: With a service like Google AdWords to get traffic
Social Media Marketing: Use social sites like Twitter, Stumbleupon, Facebook, YouTube, I-Tunes, HubPages, and hundreds of other words strategically distributed to you.
Forum Marketing: Participation in the forum responses from their profits. No spam. Sometimes you follow back, "Mr."to your website.
Marketing Newsletter: your customers on a mailing list (be sure to ask first!) And send them the latest news and updates. Regular customers, you should be bread and butter.
Other marketing: business cards, ads, possibly do, craft shows, fairs, place your website on all packs
I could go on – and I think I have – I'm sorry. Time to start fixing their own websites. I want to see shine!
